| Synopsis | On January 13, 2018, 1.4 million people in Hawaii received a text message from the government: BALISTIC MISSILE THREAT TO HAWAI. TAKE COVER IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. In the minutes that followed, they were faced with questions that had been unthinkable just moments before. When finally it was revealed to be an error, it was already too late. This collective experience had laid bare the growing threat that nuclear weapons pose to the world. In the words of Kauai resident Cynthia Lazaroff, “nothing happened, but everything changed”. |
